"75231 " Murder Mystery Role-playing Game

Tianyue Chen & Diwei Gu, forum workshop 2025

‘75231’ is an original murder mystery role-playing game designed to educate players about neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, including their symptoms and treatments, through immersive and interactive gameplay. The game accommodates 8 players, including six patients, an intern, and a department head, with an additional moderator who guides the gameplay.

Plots (no spoilers!)

Set in the winter of 2027, this murder mystery takes place at "Echo Hospital", a leading neuropsychiatric research center in a coastal Chinese city. The hospital’s director is discovered dead in a locked room, with no signs of struggle and all surveillance mysteriously disabled.

On that night, only nine people are present in the hospital: the director (the deceased), a department head, an intern, and six patients with complex neurological or psychiatric disorders. Each participant may hide secrets, motives, or even multiple identities, making it difficult to distinguish truth from deception.

The players must navigate this intricate web of relationships and unravel the mystery: was this a deliberate murder, or a tragic accident born from collective unconscious actions? The answers lie hidden in fragmented memories, and it is up to the players to piece them together.
